Last updated: April 18, 2026
RenoCalc ("we", "us") operates renocalc.ca and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Quebec's Law 25 (Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector).
Information We Collect
We collect two types of information: (1) anonymous usage data (pages visited, calculator selections, device type, approximate location from IP) collected automatically; and (2) personal information you voluntarily provide via our lead form (name, email, phone, postal code, project details) when requesting contractor quotes.
Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functionality, traffic analytics (Google Analytics 4), and advertising personalization (Google AdSense). You may disable cookies via your browser settings without losing core calculator functionality.
Third-Party Services
We share data with the following processors, each bound by their own privacy obligations:
- Supabase (data hosting, Canada/US regions)
- Resend (transactional email delivery)
- Google AdSense (ad serving)
- Google Analytics 4 (traffic measurement)
How We Use Your Information
We use personal information solely to (a) match you with qualified contractors for the project you requested, (b) send you project-related communications from RenoCalc, and (c) comply with legal obligations. We never sell your personal information.
Sharing with Contractors
When you submit a lead form with your consent, we share your name, contact details, project type, city, postal code, and estimated budget with up to 3 pre-screened contractors matched to your location and project. Each contractor agrees to contractual privacy obligations before receiving leads. Contractors may contact you directly to provide quotes. You may opt out at any time by emailing hello@renocalc.ca.
Data Retention
We retain lead information for 24 months after submission to allow follow-up and resolve disputes, after which it is permanently deleted. Contractor waitlist records are retained until the contractor formally requests deletion or 36 months, whichever comes first. Aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely in anonymized form.
Your Rights (PIPEDA & Quebec Law 25)
You may, at any time: (1) request access to the personal information we hold about you; (2) request correction of inaccurate data; (3) withdraw your consent to lead sharing; (4) request deletion of your data; and, for Quebec residents, (5) request data portability. Send requests to hello@renocalc.ca. We will respond within 30 days.
Quebec Law 25 — Additional Rights
If you reside in Quebec, you have additional rights under Law 25, including the right to be informed of automated decision-making, to receive a clear explanation of how your data is used, and to lodge a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (www.cai.gouv.qc.ca). Our Privacy Officer can be reached at hello@renocalc.ca.
Security
We protect personal information using industry-standard safeguards: encryption in transit (TLS 1.3), encryption at rest, row-level access control, rate limiting, and audit logging. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we commit to notifying affected users within 72 hours of any confirmed breach of personal information.
